Description |
In 1970, Oklahoma’s governor established 11 sub-state planning districts or Councils of Governments. Councils of Government represent and are composed of local communities and counties in designated regions. Today’s COGs provide an invaluable statewide network that remains committed to the legislature’s original vision for effective and efficient program delivery and planning that spans local government boundaries. Local jurisdictions within specific COG regions depend on them to package and secure financing for projects of all sizes and complexity; they also count on COGs to help manage complicated federal and state programs. COGs provide professional staff capacity and expertise not available at the local level.
